Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Secret Language Online (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and shares information when you visit https://secretlanguage.online/ (the “Site”) and use the SL.O translator. We are based in United States. Contact: contact@secretlanguage.online, 312 W 2nd St, Casper, WY 82601, United States.
1. The short version
- The translator runs in your browser. The text you type into the translator is not sent to our servers.
- We do not require an account and we do not sell your personal information for money.
- With your permission we use cookies for analytics and for advertising (Google AdSense). You can say no and still use the whole Site.
- If you send us a message, we use your details only to reply.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
If you use the contact form we receive your name, email address and message. We use them to answer you and keep the conversation for as long as needed to handle your request.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our web server and hosting provider keep technical logs, for example IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, date and time and referring page. We use them for security, to keep the Site running and to find errors. A small cookie records your privacy choice (see our Cookie Policy).
Analytics and advertising (only with your consent)
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics may collect information about how you use the Site (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser). If you accept advertising cookies, Google AdSense and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies, and may receive your IP address and information about your device and browsing, to show and measure ads, to limit how often you see an ad, to prevent fraud and, if you allow it, to personalise ads. Google’s own privacy information is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
3. How we use information and our legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Run, secure and improve the Site (server logs) | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR / UK GDPR) |
| Reply to your messages | Legitimate interests, or steps requested by you |
| Analytics cookies | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)); ePrivacy rules |
| Advertising cookies and personalised ads | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)); ePrivacy rules |
| Comply with law and protect rights | Legal obligation / legitimate interests |
You may withdraw consent at any time using the “Your privacy choices” link in the footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier processing.
4. Who we share information with
- Service providers such as our hosting provider and email service, who process data for us under agreements.
- Google (AdSense and, if enabled, Analytics), only according to your cookie choices.
- Authorities or advisers when the law requires it or to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Under some US state laws, allowing advertising cookies can count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising; see section 7 for your choices.
5. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension, or Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Retention
Server logs are kept for a limited period set by our hosting provider (typically up to 12 months). Contact messages are kept as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards. Your cookie choice is stored for up to 180 days.
7. Your rights
EEA, UK and Switzerland
You have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent. You may complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
California and other US states
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and others), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to access and delete it, to correct it, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not knowingly sell personal information for money. To opt out of advertising cookies, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page or the footer link. We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out. Authorised agents may contact us at contact@secretlanguage.online.
To use any right, email contact@secretlanguage.online. We may need to verify your identity and will respond within the time the law requires (generally 30 to 45 days).
8. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures such as HTTPS, access controls and keeping software updated. No online service is completely secure.
10. Third-party sites
The Site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the “last updated” date and, where required, ask for your consent again.
